Aerospace sealing solutions

Seals play an extremely important role in the aerospace field, which is related to the safety performance, power efficiency and overall reliability of aircraft. The following are their specific applications in different aspects:

Engine system

Combustion chamber seal: The combustion chamber is an area in the engine with extremely high temperature and pressure. Seals are used at the connection between the combustion chamber and other components, such as flame tube seals, to prevent high-temperature gas leakage, ensure efficient and stable combustion process, and avoid energy loss and thermal damage to surrounding components.

Turbine shaft seal: Reliable sealing is required between the turbine shaft and the engine casing, usually using gas seal or oil seal structure, such as honeycomb seal, comb seal, etc. The gas seal uses the principle of aerodynamics to form an air curtain to prevent gas leakage; the oil seal prevents the lubricating oil from leaking into the high-temperature gas flow, ensuring the normal lubrication and cooling of the turbine shaft and maintaining the power output of the engine.

Fuel system seal: High-precision O-rings, metal gaskets and other seals are used at the fuel pipeline connection to ensure that there is no leakage of fuel during high-pressure transportation, ensure the reliability of the fuel system, and prevent safety accidents such as fires caused by fuel leakage. The seals at the fuel injector ensure accurate fuel injection and improve combustion efficiency.

Flight control system

Hydraulic pipeline seal: The hydraulic pipeline of the flight control system is responsible for transmitting high-pressure hydraulic oil and driving the control components such as the rudder. Seals such as sealing joints and sealing gaskets of hydraulic hoses must have high strength, high pressure resistance and wear resistance to ensure the stability of the pressure of the hydraulic system, prevent hydraulic oil leakage from causing control failure, and ensure precise control of flight attitude.

Sealing of the fly-by-wire system: The electronic equipment compartment of the fly-by-wire system needs to be sealed to prevent moisture, dust and electromagnetic interference from entering and affecting the normal operation of the equipment. Electromagnetic sealing gaskets, rubber sealants, etc. are used to ensure the reliability of electrical connections and provide good electromagnetic shielding and environmental sealing, ensuring accurate transmission of fly-by-wire signals and correct execution of flight control commands.

Fuselage structure

Door seal: The seal of the aircraft cabin door is crucial and related to the pressure maintenance and safety of the cabin. Inflatable sealing belts, rubber sealing strips, etc. are used to form an airtight barrier when the cabin door is closed to prevent air leakage in the cabin, ensure stable cabin pressure, and provide a comfortable and safe environment for passengers and crew members.

Wing and fuselage connection seal: The connection between the wing and the fuselage is subject to complex loads and aerodynamic pressures. Seals are used to fill the connection gaps to prevent rain, air and debris from entering the structure. At the same time, they play a role in shock absorption and sound insulation, improving the integrity and aerodynamic performance of the structure and ensuring the safety of aircraft flight.

Structural gap sealing: Use sealants, sealing tapes and other sealants at the joint gaps of structures such as the fuselage and wings to carry out waterproof and anti-corrosion treatment to prevent external environmental factors from damaging the structure, extend the service life of the aircraft structure, and ensure the reliability of the overall aircraft structure.

Landing gear system

Hydraulic strut seal: The hydraulic strut of the landing gear is used to support the weight of the aircraft and absorb the impact of landing. Its internal seals such as piston seals, guide rings, etc. prevent hydraulic oil leakage, ensure the rigidity and buffering performance of the hydraulic strut, and ensure the normal operation of the landing gear during take-off and landing.

Wheel seal: Sealing is required between the wheel hub and the axle, and between the brake device and the wheel to prevent lubricating oil leakage and brake dust entry, ensure the normal rotation and braking performance of the wheel, and improve the reliability and safety of the landing gear
