Medical devices
Syringes: The piston and the barrel wall of the syringe are sealed by seals made of materials such as rubber or thermoplastic elastomer. These seals have good elasticity and sliding properties. During the injection process, they can ensure that the piston fits tightly with the barrel wall to prevent drug leakage, and can also make the piston slide easily to achieve accurate dosage control.
Infusion sets: The dropper, dropper, and infusion tube connections of the infusion set require seals to ensure smooth flow of liquid without leakage. Generally, sealing gaskets or sealing joints made of materials such as medical grade silicone or polyvinyl chloride (PVC) are used to ensure the sealing of the infusion system, prevent air from entering and drug leakage, and ensure the safety of infusion.
Respiratory masks: Respiratory masks used for oxygen inhalation or ventilator treatment use sealing pads made of soft silicone rubber or polyurethane in the area in contact with the patient's face. These sealing pads can adapt to the patient's facial contours to form a good seal, prevent gas leakage, and ensure that the patient can effectively inhale oxygen or receive respiratory support therapy.
Medical catheters: Various types of medical catheters, such as urinary catheters and vascular catheters, require seals at the locations where they connect to the human body or equipment. For example, when a urinary catheter is connected to a urine collection bag, a silicone seal joint is used to prevent urine leakage and bacterial invasion; when a vascular catheter is connected to a puncture site or medical equipment during interventional treatment, a specially designed seal assembly is used to ensure that blood does not flow out during the operation and to prevent outside air and microorganisms from entering the blood vessels.
Medical equipment
Sterilization equipment: High-pressure steam sterilizer is a commonly used sterilization equipment in hospitals. The door and cavity are sealed with high-temperature and high-pressure resistant rubber seals or metal seals. During the sterilization process, the door and cavity are tightly fitted by the locking device, and the seal is compressed to form a reliable seal to prevent steam leakage, ensure that the pressure and temperature of the sterilization environment meet the set requirements, and ensure the sterilization effect.
Anesthesia machine: The gas delivery system of the anesthesia machine requires high-precision sealing to ensure accurate delivery of mixed gases such as anesthetic gas and oxygen. Seals are used in gas pipeline connections, valve seals, and evaporators. High-performance sealing materials such as fluororubber are usually used, which can withstand the corrosion of anesthetic gases, ensure the accuracy and stability of gas delivery, and avoid gas leakage from causing harm to patients and medical staff.
Medical imaging equipment: such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) equipment, computed tomography (CT) equipment, etc., some key components inside need to be sealed to ensure normal operation. For example, the superconducting magnet system of MRI equipment needs to work in an ultra-low temperature environment, and special sealing technology and sealing materials are used to prevent the leakage of cryogenic media such as liquid helium, while ensuring that the magnet system is isolated from the external environment and maintaining a stable magnetic field environment.
In vitro diagnostic equipment: In the process of sample processing and testing, in vitro diagnostic equipment such as biochemical analyzers and immunoassay analyzers require seals to prevent sample cross-contamination and reagent leakage. For example, the bottle cap of the reagent storage bottle uses a silicone sealing pad to ensure the sealing of the reagent during storage and use, and prevent the reagent from volatilizing and deteriorating; the sealing cover of the sample reaction cup is made of plastic or rubber material to ensure that the sample and reagent will not leak during the reaction process, ensuring the accuracy of the test results.
