Perfuoroether rubber (FFKM for short) is a high-performance synthetic rubber made by ternary copolymerization of tetrafluoroethylene (TFE), perfluoromethyl vinyl ether (PMVE) and perfluoroene ether. This rubber material has a unique molecular structure in which all hydrogen atoms on carbon atoms are replaced by fluorine atoms, forming a rubber that does not contain C-H bonds at all. This structure gives perfluoroether rubber extremely high chemical and thermal stability, making it an indispensable high-performance sealing material in modern industry.
The density of perfluoroether rubber is usually between 1.9-2.0g/cm’, and its physical and mechanical properties are close to those of fluororubber, but its high-temperature compression permanent deformation performance is better than that of fluororubber. Its long-term use temperature range can reach -39°C to 288°C, and its short-term use temperature can even reach 400°C. It still has a certain plasticity below the brittle temperature, is hard but not brittle, and can be bent. In addition, perfluoroether rubber also exhibits excellent chemical resistance and can withstand attacks from up to 1,600 chemicals, including strong acids, strong alkalis, organic solvents, corrosive gases, high-temperature superheated water-steam, etc.
Application of perfluoroether rubber seal ring-FFKM seals
Perfluoroether rubber (FFKM), as a high-performance synthetic rubber material, has excellent chemical resistance, heat resistance, high pressure resistance and wear resistance. As a sealing element made of this material, FFKM seals play a vital role in semiconductors, pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals, aerospace and other fields.
